What is the difference between a Superchip and a Bluefin?

In terms of the improvement it makes to your vehicle, there is no difference at all. The actual software / remap installed is identical either way, whether you visit a Superchips dealer to have it installed or do it yourself using a Bluefin handset.

Do you have a Bluefin for my vehicle?

Please look up the details of your car in the drop-down menus to the right. If you find that your car is not listed, please ask us as we always have a lot of new applications in development.

How do I install my remap using Bluefin?

You don't need any mechanical or technical knowledge, you don't even need to lift the bonnet - it's all done from the comfort of your driving seat. Start by simply plugging the Bluefin handset into the diagnostic port and follow the instructions displayed on your Bluefin.

Have a look at this video to see hows it done: https://vimeo.com/217139681

Is a Superchips remap detectable by the dealer?

In most cases, no. Some manufacturers can tell that something has changed, but not necessarily what. If and when you need to return your vehicleback to the original remap, you will need to do one of the following, depending on your purchase. If a remap was installed by a Superchips dealer, you will need to take the vehicle back to them to have it returned to original; or if you have a Bluefin, just plug it into the OBD Port and put the vehicle back to original.

If the dealer updates my software, what do I do?

If a dealer overwrites your vehicle's ECU, we will supply a new remap free of charge. However, if this involves removing the ECU, a small labour charge of £50.00 plus VAT will apply here at Superchips HQ.

Simply plug your Bluefin into the vehicle again, and it will detect that the software has been updated and then read the new software from the ECU. Call us to let us know, and we will provide a new remap based on this updated software free of charge.

I have a Bluefin from a previous vehicle and want to use it to remap my next vehicle - can this be done?

It is possible to use the Bluefin again on your next vehicle, where compatible. The first step is to uninstall the Superchips remap from the old vehicle using the Bluefin. Then please call or email us with the serial number of the Bluefin, and we will advise whether it is suitable for your new vehicle and the procedure and cost involved to make it work. We commonly refer to this as a 'Bluefin Reset'.

The price of a reset is equivalent to a 35% discount off the UK recommended retail price of a new Bluefin for the subsequent vehicle. If the Bluefin is still under a year old, however, and as long as it was uninstalled from the original vehicle, the price of one reset will be equivalent to a 50% discount off the UK recommended retail price of the Bluefin for the subsequent vehicle.

Can I use my Bluefin on more than one vehicle at a time?

No, your Bluefin becomes tied to your car alone after remapping, it cannot be used to remap multiple vehicles at the same time. The Bluefin handset is simply a programming device designed to install our product, your remap. If you wish, you can leave the remap on the first vehicle and then purchase another remap for the second vehicle at a price equivalent to a 35% discount off the UK recommended retail price of a new Bluefin for the subsequent vehicle.

I am thinking about buying / have bought a second hand Bluefin.

Please call us with the serial number, and we will advise whether it is suitable for your vehicle and the procedure and cost involved to make it work. The cost of having a used Bluefin reconfigured / reset to remap another compatible vehicle is equivalent to a 35% discount off the UK recommended price. However, not all Bluefin handsets are compatible with all applications so additional costs may be incurred.

Does the Supplementary Warranty apply to Bluefin Resets.

In the case of a Bluefin Device, this Warranty only applies to the first vehicle remapped using a new Bluefin bought from Superchips Ltd. or an Approved Reseller. Bluefin Devices that have been reset, and those bought or used outside the United Kingdom, are not covered by this Warranty.

Do you offer remaps for DPF or EGR delete?

No. Please see the following link. New Government Rules For MOT

Will my vehicle pass an MOT when it is remapped?

Yes, all our Superchips remaps are designed to remain legal and pass all current MOT emission tests.

Do you offer any trade-in deals on used Bluefins if I need a new type of unit?

Unfortunately we do not take back previous-generation Bluefins because we cannot re-sell them, and we cannot recycle the components because there is no carry-over to the current Bluefin. However, we will gladly dispose of your unwanted Bluefin responsibly.

Will a Superchips remap improve my vehicle's economy?

Every situation is different, but if you have a turbo-diesel, in like-for-like use you should typically see an improvement in economy of up to 10%. We cannot make claims for potential economy improvements for petrol-engined vehicles, but in like-for-like use the economy should not be any worse.
